Rules & Resources
Louisiana's driving rules encompass a range of regulations aimed at ensuring safety on the state's roadways. Some key aspects include adhering to speed limits, which vary depending on the type of road and location, obeying traffic signals and signs, and refraining from texting or using a mobile device while driving. Louisiana has a strict "No Texting and Driving" law, making it illegal to use a handheld device for any purpose while behind the wheel. Additionally, seat belt usage is mandatory for all occupants of a vehicle, and child safety seats are required for children under a certain age and weight. The state also enforces DUI laws rigorously, with severe penalties for those caught driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Familiarizing oneself with these rules and driving responsibly contributes to safer journeys on Louisiana's roadways.
